A Little About Us...

Located in the most southwestern point in Kentucky, Fulton County is a community rich in historic tradition and gracious southern living. At the highest vantage point in its county seat of    Hickman is our courthouse, built in 1903 and remodeled in 1990-1991 to ultra modern convenience. It has retained its outward Queen Anne and Dutch Colonial influence and is known to have the only known original operating Seth Thomas clock in the tower.

The city of Hickman is laid out on six levels of hill overlooking the mighty Mississippi River. We are only eight miles from the Tennessee state line to the south and across the river from Missouri. The Hickman-Dorena, MO. Ferry offers year round passage across the River and is a real asset for both industry and tourism. The Hickman-Fulton County Riverport Authority provides shipment for a wide variety of agricultural grains, steel, petroleum coke, fertilizers and numerous other products, giving a broad industrial base for future growth to our economy.

We have a school system, grades K-12, that is second to none with dedicated teachers and staff, Area Technology Center and a well rounded athletic program. We concur with our state motto that "Education Pays". We also are blessed with churches of practically every denomination. This is an important part of the life and culture of our people. Come and spend some time with us and we hope our hospitality will make you want to stay.

     CHAMBER OBJECTIVES:

The Hickman Chamber of Commerce is organized to achieve the objectives of preserving the competitive enterprise system of business by creating a better understanding and appreciation of the importance of the businessman and a concern for his problems; creating a more intelligent business and public opinion regarding city, county, and state, national legislative and political affairs; preventing controversies which are detrimental to expansion and growth of business and the community or adjusting them if they arise. They also preserve the competitive enterprise system of business by promoting economic business and community growth and development. This is accomplished through promoting economic programs designed to strengthen and expand the income potential of all businesses within our trade area and by promoting programs of a civic, social and cultural nature which are designed to increase the functional and aesthetic values of the community.
